IBS Implant is one of the three leading dental implant manufacturers in South Korea and a globally recognized reference in implantology. Under EU regulations, a non-EU manufacturer cannot place medical devices on the European market without an authorized EC-REP: a legal entity domiciled in the EU that assumes full regulatory accountability before health authorities. This is not an administrative role. The EC-REP signs with their name and bears direct legal responsibility if compliance fails. Modelos y Prototipos Médicos, S.L. acted as the legal vehicle for this representation. The mandate was to obtain AEMPS authorization as first official importer in Spain, ensure MDR compliance across the full product line, and build the commercial foundation for IBS Implant's entry into the European market.

IBS Implant has since established commercial presence in multiple EU countries. The Spanish entry was the first.
Assuming EC-REP status means accepting personal legal accountability before Spanish and European health authorities. A compliance gap is not a business problem, it is a legal exposure with direct consequences for the representative. Running this in parallel with full P&L accountability for a 30-person medical center, managing insurer relationships and a live digital transformation, required a level of compartmentalization and operational discipline that most management roles never demand. The MedTech regulatory layer was not delegated. It ran simultaneously with everything else, for 9 years.
